I can't speak for you. But as an autistic person myself, I want to offer a counter perspective. It's never bothered me when people say I "don't look autistic." First off, I know they don't mean any harm. Second of all, it gives me a chance to educate them about the wide varieties of autistic people. These are moments that call for enlightenment. Again, I can't negate your experiences, but I wanted to offer another viewpoint. Maybe I should expand this into my own article.
